Minor bugfix release v1.0.3 was rolled out earlier tonight. This release fixes an issue where the plugin would stop users from adding new widgets. The issue related to the handling of meta data from widgets that were not built using the current (since WordPress vesrsion 2.0.8) documented approach listed in the codex. The documented approach is to extend the WP_Widget class, but widgets that did not do that have a different setup and caused Turbo Widgets some issues. The fix means that Turbo Widgets no longer breaks. It should be noted that this emergency fix means that widgets no built using the documented approach are not currently listed as available widgets. A new version of Turbo Widgets is currently being developed to support these other widgets, and shall be released to the premium users in the near future. Read MoreIt’s finally here… the much anticipated successor (and update) of the 5-star rated Widgets on Pages plugin for WordPress. It’s the new, easier way to add Widgets directly inline into your WordPress posts and pages on your WordPress sites. The King is dead, long live the King It’s been sometime since the Widgets on Pages plugin was updated… but it’s still going strong and working (more-or-less) as designed. And as such is one of the most highly rated WordPress plugins to date. So why not upgrade it? Well the name doesn’t really match up to the roadmap. The features in the pipeline extend well beyond putting widgets on pages… and so there should be a new name to fit. And so Turbo Widgets was born. And Pro? Yes, Turbo Widgets will have a free and paid version. The free version will do all (and more) than the existing Widgets on Pages plugin but the pro will add extra features. Over time, as new feature drops come into the Pro version, older features will be added to the free one. Of course bugfixes will be rolled out to both, as will compatibility updates to match core WordPress releases. The main idea behind having a Pro version will be to support the time needed to keep up maintenance and push new features through. The annual Pro license will come with initial additional features and early release of new features. Pro license will also come with priority support over Free users (not that there were ever lots of support tickets). And of course you get a handful of warm and loving karma points and virtual hugs from me. The free version is currently awaiting approval to be listed on the WordPress.org plugin repository.
